Hey everyone,
There's a doggie street fair happening this sunday in San Diego!
It's the first one and it looks like it should be a lot of fun. I'm excited to go!!

Also, the dates for the 2009 Big Dog Parade in Santa barbara, CA have been set! Sat June 6!!! I plan on bringing B-Bop, Rocksy and Qi. Haven't decided on their costumes yet but I'll think of something good!!

I am fairly new to the popsugar community, and I was so excited to see the fairly new out and about travel guide with Petsugar. I recently just started my own blog about dog friendly places in and around the North Georgia area. Athens, Georgia in particular, is a great dog friendly town! Kimpton Hotels runs several upscale, pet friendly hotels around the US as well as some in Western Canada. They often are theme hotels (one in Seattle focuses on wines) and have a spa and many other luxuries that you can't often find with the pet-friendly set. These hotels are beautiful! At least one of the Seattle ones does a fund-raising event for local shelters once a year, and I would hope that the others do too! Check them out next time you are traveling with your pet:

Arroyo Burro Dog Beach in Santa Barbara, CA

This is a really great dog beach. Half is dedicated to human sun bathers and the other to doggy fun.

The dogs are able to run around, frolic in the waves and interact with other dogs OFF LEASH!!! The majority of dogs are really well behaved and obedient.

The beach is also well kept with owners cleaning up after their dogs (poop bags are available at entrance of beach)

Here are some pictures of my first time there with my dog Jeffrey. Kassie didn't get to go because she refused to jump into the truck- her loss (actually ever since then she always jumps in to make sure she doesnt miss anything )

Year Round support for WA State Animal Agencies

The WA State Federation of Animal Care and Control Agencies has a special license plate for pet lovers. This license plate is $40 for the initial (in addition to your regular license tab fees) and then $30 each year thereafter for renewal. The money goes into a Grant Fund to support spay and neuter throughout the state. The graphic was designed by cartoonist Brian Basset of Adam, & Red and Rover fame. I got mine right away when they came out - #156! It's always fun to see others out there with the same plate and know that they care as much about pets as you do!
